Diversity
➢ Do you want to work with diverse people? (Military people are a cross-section of America. Some are from the country, some from the suburbs, and some from the inner city. Think of the racial diversity. Think of the denominational and religious difference – Baptist, Presbyterian, Methodist, Pentocostal, Catholic, conservative/liberal, religious cults, or more often than not, a strange blend or lack of any formal religious background at all!)
➢ Can you work with chaplains from different denominations?
➢ Can you handle rejection?
Outlook
➢ Do you have an adventurous or pioneering spirit?
➢ Are you able to maintain a house and a yard, including minor repairs and improvements? Can you handle a hammer, a lawn mower, and a mop – or find the help you need?
➢ Will you exercise your faith and rely on the Lord to raise financial support for your expenses and salary if needed?
➢ Are you organized enough to stay on top of basic financial accounting and file reports on time?

*Please understand, when we say “not everyone is suited,” we mean “not everyone is a good fit.” We don’t mean, “not everyone is good enough for us.” This is a difficult and demanding job that requires a wide variety of interests, experience, and skills/gifts. However, if you appreciate the list of questions and the values behind the questions describe you, there may be no better place of ministry for you than ministering to military people through a Hospitality House.
